Evaluation

Overall I have really enjoyed this project because it came me the opportunity to really show my skills with Illamasqua. I think the way the practical lessons were broken up worked very well as we got more done in the two hours. I learnt a lot more in these practical lessons than I did before because we did a lot more.  I used some of the skills that we learned in the practical lessons in my final look, for example I used a hairpiece for my fantasy look, which was very affective and made a very big difference to the end result.  Also I added things to eyelashes to make them unique and individual.
I was very pleased with my two images and the end result because that is how I planned and pictured them to look like but the end result was even better. My images I think looked very effective. This was one of my favourite projects this year because we could really go all out and express our creativity in these looks. We had the freedom to do whatever we wanted and the way we went about the looks by choosing two words, was very good and I would do that again because it made it easier for me to create a look.

THE FINAL ACT OF SELF-EXPRESSION

I found this very interesting and this service that Illamasqua provide explains them perfectly, it portrays there dreamlike, fantasy image very well.

Illamasqua and family funeral directors of 220 years, Leverton & Sons, have collabortated to launch an innovative service bringing ritual beauty to the final act for those who love to self-express.
Offering professional funeral make-up transformations applied by a specially trained Illamasqua make-up artist, the Final Act of Self-Expression encourages people for whom making-up is an intimate part of their identity to plan their final transformation - one that pays tribute to who they were in life and how they want to enter the afterlife.
Leverton & Sons is one of the oldest and most respected funeral directors in Britain. The company's longevity combined with Illamasqua's truly professional make-up products ensures a distinguished service of quality and dependability.
Illamasqua encourages people to self-express and embrace their alter ego in every way. Why should this be any different when you pass away? It is a celebration of life, and one that should be indulged for your last glamorous look.
The rite of passage to the afterlife has been of central importance to human culture for thousands of years. To have the best mahogany, the finest lining, the best stallions... are today chosen in tribute to the life lived. To wear the most fabulous make-up applied by a professionally trained make-up artist for your final journey is the ultimate statement of celebration.

Heritage

Illamasqua is the product of a heady mix of influences. Its roots stem from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene, and combine a rich heritage in the manufacture of make-up for film and theatre. It also takes inspiration from members of the ‘alternative scenes’ for whom self-expression is paramount. Alternative cultures have always dared to be dramatic. They have an emotional attachment to making up. It’s an expression of their darker side, a release for their alter ego.

Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us. It is an act and an attitude. A symbol of tolerance. A celebration of idiosyncrasies. A confident statment of self ownership.

Illamasqua

Makeup For Your Alter Ego
These are a few of Illamasqua campaigns, as you can see they are all very paranormal and very fantasy/fairy tale. Illamasqua are known best for there use of bright colours and bold patterns. There campaigns are never bland and boring and they are almost dreamlike.

Keira Knightly in Atonment

Keira Knightly in Atonement, wear a beautiful long green dress down to her feet, there is aspects of jealousy in the film and we can see the colour green has been used a lot throughout the film, from wardrobe to props and scenery. Her makeup is very subtle because the dress says it all.

ENVY

For my second word i chose envy, i am glad i chose this word because there is so much that you can do with it and you can experiment. Now that i have started researching i think envy being associated green it will go very well with underwater as the main colour is Blue. The word envy is good because you can interpret it in many different ways.

UNDERWATER

I picked underwater as my first word just because i think it will be very interesting to combine this word with another and create a look from the two. For this word i have been researching just the colours and objects that you would find underwater, i want to get a good idea of textures and shades that i can incorporate into my final look.

Green with envy: a wedding shoot

This is a brilliant fine art wedding series created by the effervescent Australian photographer Angie Peady. It’s a brilliant portrait of wedding themes and ideas to help inspire Brides and her latest is the stunning Green With Envy shoot.

I came across this shoot whilst researching envy inspired makeup and found it very interesting, the makeup is very plain and not many colors have been used. Also the styling compliments the makeup and all goes very well together. The dark lips and the eye liner are very effective and bold, they make a statement.
